Palm Sunday

Having just celebrated Palm Sunday and with Easter just around the corner, it seems that the time is right for me to resurrect my blog!  I went to church for the first time today, since returning to Hyderabad.  Though the church was a bit difficult to find, it was lovely house of worship.  After the service, I made my way to nearby Charminar, which is the 'Old City' area of Hyderabad with a large Muslim population and sprawling bazaars/markets.  Time was limited and it's getting hot here, so I just saw the nearby Jama Masjid (mosque) and walked around briefly.
An "English is Funny" blog is in the queue, but until then I hope you enjoy the pictures of my great city... Hyderabad!

  1. Great pictures, Luke! I'm glad to see a bit of the city. Looking forward to your "English is funny" post :)

  2. GREAT photos, Luke! Maybe some more explanation of what we are looking at would be good! Like, for instance, are those women praying - where are they situated (outer court of the mosque)? Was the picture of the church building, the church that you have attended in Hyderabad?

  3. Luke, great to see you carrying on the tradition of this exchange in good spirits. There have only been 7 of us (Lisa and I were #3), and it looks like we've all approached it in our own way. At least there's no talk about your house burning down (Brian)...

We are looking in with great interest and try to imagine the discussions you are having over chai and iddlys.

    All the best!

  4. Dad, no one was praying in the pictures I took at the mosque. They're just laying around... As for the church, yes, that's one of the churches I've been to in H-bad.
Jason, you weren't kidding, this is quite an experience! I'm very fortunate the Brian was so helpful with the transition. He made it go so very smoothly for me (at least as much as is possible!). I've had some really interesting discussions over chai, iddlys and just about everything else!
Hope you and Lisa are doing well!
